Bye, Bye, 2024!

2024 has been an incredible year—a year of transformation, personal growth, and pivotal changes in my professional journey.

On a personal note, my son, born on March 2023, has been a source of immense joy and inspiration. For much of 2023, he and my wife stayed at my hometown in my in-laws’ place while I worked from Bengaluru. One of the most memorable moments of 2024 was when they joined me in Bengaluru. Having my family by my side has truly enriched my life and given me a renewed sense of purpose.

Professionally, 2024 marked a significant turning point. After six wonderful years with Satyukt Analytics, I made the difficult decision to step away from my role and embark on a freelancing journey. While my time with Satyukt spanned six years, my association with Dr. Sat Kumar Tomer began eight years ago, starting at Aapah Innovations. Leaving Satyukt—and Dr. Sat, who has been a guiding force throughout my career—was not an easy decision. However, every chapter has its conclusion, and I felt this was the right time to explore new opportunities and challenge myself in different ways.

During my tenure at Satyukt, I was fortunate to collaborate with an amazing team and extraordinarily talented individuals. Together, we developed cutting-edge solutions for agri-tech using remote sensing and GIS. This experience not only honed my technical skills but also enriched my understanding of teamwork, leadership, and innovation.

In my short freelancing career so far, I’ve had the privilege of working on diverse and exciting projects. These include generating point cloud data using MicMac, deforestation analysis, QGIS customization with Python, land use change detection, and vacant lot analysis in QGIS. Each project has been a valuable learning experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunities that have come my way.

Additionally, as part of the Let’s Talk Spatial community, we hosted five meetups in 2024, bringing together geospatial enthusiasts to share knowledge and ideas. I hope to continue this momentum in 2025, hosting more meetups and connecting with amazing people who share a passion for spatial technologies.

Freelancing is still a work in progress, and there’s much I need to learn and develop. However, I am excited about this journey, embracing the uncertainties, and looking forward to what lies ahead.

I want to thank everyone who has been part of my journey this past year—clients, colleagues, friends, and family members. Your support, trust, and encouragement have been instrumental in making 2024 a year to remember.

Here’s to new beginnings, continued growth, and exciting opportunities in 2025. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
